Family Tree 1673 to date - Patrick.org.uk 2000+ - Home

About this site

There are two main reasons for creating this site. The first is "well why not?". The second is that I would be pleased if it somehow helped fill a gap for someone researching their family history or if it resulted in some new piece of information that allowed me to take ours a few years further back. I say "me" but in fact I have not researched any of the information here at all: I have simply put it up on the Web. Most of the information that appears here was researched by my father's cousin Jim Patrick and his wife Dorothy. I get a huge kick out of being able to look at my family tree and trace my ancestry but genealogy, as such, is not one of my interests and I don't anticipate ever taking on any of the research myself.

Jim and Dorothy used church and census records to trace the family tree back to 1697 and the birth of William Patrick, son of David and Frances. Sadly, Jim Patrick died on 4th July 2006. Dorothy died in May 2001.

All information prior to 1697 comes from research by my uncle Geoff on wills and other documents.

Thanks to those descendants of William Catesby (of Gunpowder Plot fame) who have enquired whether my family is related to them through the Catesbys who appear on my family tree. My understanding had always been that a connection, whilst not disproved, was no more than "a romantic possibility". Recently, however, I was contacted by another member of the family who has done considerable research into the Catesby connection. Her analysis is that it is very likely that there is a connection and has asked me to mention this.

www.hamrick.com/names   This site displays graphically the distribution across the USA at various times of any surname you enter. I'm intrigued as to what the Patricks were up to between 1850 and 1880.
