A Patrick Family Tree from 1673

This dynamic family tree allows you to set any member of the family as the 'owner' of the tree and see his or her ancestors and descendants. The software I used is called Dftcom2 (www.dftcom2.co.uk). It's a free Java utility developed by Michael Horey.

The Patrick family tree starts properly with David Patrick (1673 - 1755) but it has been taken back to 1595 via the family of David's wife Frances Catesby. The interest in Frances Catesby is that there may be a connection with Robert Catesby of Gunpowder Plot fame. I had always understood that, although not disproved, this was only a "romantic possibility". However, a member of the family who has done considerable research is convinced that there is a link which may yet be proved.

David married Frances by special licence at Great Bowden on 7th May 1693. He was described on the licence as David Kilpatrick, 'shoemaker'. However, by the time his first son, William, was born at Lubenham in 1697, he was known as David Patrick, 'miller'. David probably originated in Scotland. He may have been a member of Clan Lamont. As a Kilpatrick, however, he may have been a member of Clan Colquhoun.

For me, the tree starts with Joseph Patrick whose 25th wedding anniversary photograph is on the home page and which, hanging on the stairway at my Dad's house, first gave me the idea for this site.
